Common Sense Medicine: What does that mean? First, it means that I will listen carefully to you and look at the patient before deciding on a diagnosis and treatment plan. I prefer a holistic approach to veterinary medicine, relying more on patient history and a thorough physical exam to begin my diagnosis instead of immediately running a battery of tests. After the initial examination, if tests are indicated and appropriate, I have up-to-date diagnostic medical equipment, x-ray & processing, and an on-site laboratory. Still, a patient is more to me than a lab report and an x-ray picture, and I prefer to treat the whole individual with the goal of optimum wellness.
Common Sense Medicine means that I don't practice with one-size-fits-all answers to life's problems. I do my best to search out the latest research and recommendations, mixed with my experience from many years of day-to-day practice, to decide the best options for treatment of each of my patients as individuals. I will then discuss the treatment options, with the risks and benefits of each, so that you can decide what best meets the needs of your family and your budget.
Common Sense Medicine also means that I am a "preventive medicine" advocate, because it costs less in pain and suffering, as well as dollars, to prevent disease rather than to try to cure it. It is my goal to prevent as much disease and suffering as possible in the life of your pet. My staff and I are committed to helping you keep your animal family members happy, healthy, and living life to its fullest potential. We offer not only Veterinary medical care, but also education, discussion, and handout materials to help you prevent and/or solve your pet’s problems.
